Remote Training

During the Covid-19 pandemic Scarecrow Consultants will be offering a number of one- and two-day courses that will be delivered remotely.

Information on these courses and how to book is given below.

For information on how these courses will be delivered and on all the services we will be offering during the Covid-19 crisis, please see our dedicated page.

Overview of our Course Offerings

Introduction to MBSE

A one-day introduction to Model-Based Systems Engineering, covering: MBSE in One Slide, evolution of MBSE in your organisation, modelling (what, where, when, how etc.), fundamentals of SysML, the benefits of MBSE.

Introduction to SysML

A one-day introduction to the SysML modelling language, covering: modelling (what, where, when, how etc.), structural & behavioural modelling, an overview of the 9 SysML diagrams.

NOTE: This course builds on the SysML element from 'Introduction to MBSE', covering the notation in greater detail.

Architecture Frameworks

This one-day course is aimed at systems and software engineers that have a working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML (or UML) and who want to develop their MBSE skills by learning how to develop architecture frameworks and patterns in a robust, consistent, model-based way. The course teaches Scarecrow's Framework for Architectural Frameworks (FAF), a model-based approach to defining architecture frameworks.

Interfaces (The Interface Pattern)

This one-day course is aimed at systems and software engineers that have a working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML (or UML) and who want to develop their MBSE skills by learning how to model interfaces in a robust, consistent, model-based way. The course teaches Scarecrow's Interface Pattern, a model-based enabling pattern that gives a framework in which to model interfaces in terms of their definition, connectivity, behaviour and protocols. The pattern supports service-based interfaces (such as between software components where one directly invokes the services provide by the other) and also supports flow-based interfaces (such as data on a data bus, fluid along a pipe, people between sites). The Interface Pattern is defined and documented using the FAF, covered on our 'Architecture Frameworks' course; attendance on that course is not necessary in order to attend this Interfaces course.

Introduction to Context-Based Requirements Engineering

A one-day introduction to Context-Based Requirements Engineering, covering: introduction to requirements engineering, essential requirements terminology and concepts (requirement descriptions; requirement rules; requirement sources; stakeholder identification; context identification; context definition; validation of requirements) the requirements ontology & framework.

Deploying MBSE

A one-day course covering the areas that have to be considered when planning an MBSE deployment. The course covers: capturing the reasons for deploying MBSE in your organisation, understanding your MBSE capabilities (current and desired), understanding where you are on the MBSE evolutionary path and where you want to be, identifying the tasks needed to move your organisation along the path.

Schedule and Availability

Courses will be run on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month. For two-day courses, they will take place on a Tuesday & Wednesday.

The current schedule of courses and availability for each course is shown below. The table also shows the relevant book that is also available for the course. See the Costs section for details of obtaining the book.
